Joey Buttafouco’s publicist has set up another headline grabber for his client. In an interview on FOX News, sporting gray “vote for amy and joey” t-shirts Joey and his publicist discussed an upcoming reunion meeting with Amy Fisher. Will the publicity stunt end in a long-term reunion for the two felons and erstwhile lovers? According to reports, the two have been talking again, and are looking forward to the meeting.
The meeting between Joey Buttafouco and Amy Fisher is set to be in Fresh York’s Central Park. On a FOX News interview, Buttafouco said his primary reason in meeting Ms. Fisher is to bag out what was going on at that point in his life. He has repeatedly claimed that he was on medications, and couldn’t think and reason well, at the time of the incident. When pressed as to whether he expected an intimate reunion with Amy Fisher, he and his publicist nodded. Buttafouco commented that it is strong possibility.
1992, the Buttafouco name grabbed national headlines when Joey Buttafouco’s 16 year-old lover, Amy Fisher, attempted to kill his wife. Fisher left Mary Jo Buttafouco with permanent injure following a shot to the head. Amy Fisher went to jail for attempted homicide, and Joey Buttafouco went to jail for statutory rape of the sixteen year-old.
Buttafouco has had several run-ins with the law since 1992. He moved to California in hopes of becoming an actor. It never panned out for more than a few small parts. In 1995 he was arrested for picking up a hooker, who happened to be an undercover agent. Once he got out of prison, he opened an auto shop. He ended up in jail again, this time for insurance fraud. He also lost his license as an auto mechanic.
Unbelievably, Mary Jo Buttafouco remained married to Joey until they moved to California. He remarried, but has once again divorced.
Where does Amy Fisher fit into the equation? In her co-written book, Amy Fisher: My Story, explains her sexual promiscuity as a teen. She claims to have been sexually abused repeatedly, even raped, and to have had an abortion before she ever met Buttafouco at the age of fifteen. Amy and Joey met at his auto repair shop, when she took her car in for repairs. As their relationship developed, one day Joey, then 35, drove the 15 year-old home where their first sexual encounter occurred.
Amy became hyper-focused on Joey. She lost interest in family, friends, and school. Upon Joey’s suggestion, Amy Fisher got a job with an escort service, and started making good money. Amy’s obsession with Joey only grew. Ultimately, she gave him a choice: his wife or her. She was astounded when Joey chose to stay with his wife. She feigned an attempted suicide attempt with superficial cuts on her wrists.
There was a short hiatus in the relationship, when Amy began dating the owner of a local gym. However, before long she and Joey were back together. Amy Fisher then began to obsess on how to get rid of the biggest obstacle in her relationship with Joey, Mary Joe Buttafouco. Amy claims Joey knew about her plans to kill his wife. She said they discussed them, and he even called her to view if she had a gun. Joey denies any knowledge of Amy’s intent to harm his wife.
May 17, 1992, at 11:30 A.M. Amy Fisher, armed with a Titan .25 semi-automatic gun, went to the Buttafouco home to destroy Mary Joe. She was driven by the accomplice who helped her obtain the gun. Mary Jo Buttafouco and Amy had a short confrontation on the front porch of the Buttafouco home. Amy then knocked Mary Joe to the ground and shot her in the head, leaving her for stupid.
Joey Buttafouco fingered Amy’s ex-boyfriend in the shooting. He denied the affair and Amy’s allegations that he had given her the gun. When Mary Joe pulled through the severe head injury, Joey gave up Amy, telling people that she might be the shooter. Mary Joe identified her in a picture as the assailant.
Amy, in exchange for testifying against Joey, the district attorney got her sentence reduced to fifteen years for attempted murder, assault, armed felony, and criminal use of a firearm. Mary Fisher served seven years. In 2003, she married a man 24 years her senior. They have one son and live in Long Island, where Amy has become a columnist.
Amy’s husband suspects that she may want to get back together with Buttafouco. He cites her recent breast enhancement, and interest in the meeting with Buttafouco. He is reported as having expressed concern for his marriage.
The final chapter of this epic tragedy remains to be written. Viewers of Geraldo at Large, on FOX News, May 13, were encouraged to visit website to vote for whether Joey and Amy should get back together. I cannot fathom the public encouraging or even participating in this farce. Has Amy Fisher grown up, as she claims? Has Joey Buttafouco changed? It didn’t appear that he had. A heinous crime and great tragedy is being revived for cheap publicity. I am keen in seeing how society reacts to the revival of the “Long Island Lolita” story.
Meanwhile, I feel sure we can rely on David Letterman to fall back on the butt of his favorite jokes, Joey Buttafouco.

If you have been involved in an auto accident and the insured driver that hit you has Status Farm or Allstate auto insurance. I would think twice about filing a personal injury claim, especially if it’s a small bodily tissue injury. Such as a simple torn ligament or “whip lash” in the neck from being rear-ended by another vehicle and if the property damage is a very minimum.
State Farm and Allstate both are noted for choosing to drag out your personal injury claim for payments almost (2) two years in the state of Georgia because they legally have 2 years to “pay up” before a law suit will be filed by your attorney. Most U.S states have anywhere from 1-4 years for this medical claim payment payout period simply because of the litigation process can bewitch so long and use the county courts time. (This is based on personal facts).
One reason why is because personal injuries can linger on for years and years to come. In other words, if the insurance company settles immediately, and you have repecussions from this injury later on in life. Your attorney(s) can always go back and file a law suit regarding this injury against the other insured driver and unfortuantely NOT the insurance company. (State Farm and Allstate are both aware of this situation. This is most likely the MAIN reason why they take so long to settle your medical claim payment).
Another obvious reason why is because companies like Plot Farm and Allstate know they can just simply get away with it? Especially if it’s a neck injury such as “Whip Lash” which is extremely hard to indicate in front of a jury trial. Over 90% of the time this particular injury can not be shown on x-rays, CT scan and even an MRI report, although medical examiners most often agree that it’s possible to have this pain for years, (unfortunately, this injury weakens the muscles and joints around the neck).
The auto accident victim also knows the injury is there and most likely feels the pain for years and years after this terrible accident. Most personal injury attorneys will allege you to immediately go the orthopedic surgeon and or chiropractor unprejudiced so you can hasten up these gigantic medical bills, which looks “Big” on their initial report to insurance adjuster(s) to settle your case which normally begins after about (6) six after you hire this legal counsel to represent you.
Most auto accident tissue injuries like torn ligaments, herniated disc in the succor or neck, or torn cartiliage in the knees are NEVER admissible in court. Unless the plaintiff’s attorney has an astounding medical provider that has proved all the facts regarding this particular injury and examination in their legal deposition, which also comes out of your final settlement normally $2500.00 for each expert doctor.
“If your property damage to your vehicle is very microscopic” Dwelling Farm and Allstate both know they can earn away with your medical payment forever!” simply because of what it looks like in front of a jury if litigation is filed. Your attorney will win in the end, even if you lose your case? Ironically by charging you for un-called for itemized expenses. If you do not pay these so-called expenses, he could possibly file a jugdement against you, thus in return hurting your credit, which can be embarrassing to explain as possible insurance fraud.
Also, remember in the end if you lose your case, you will still be responsible for paying these outrageous medical bills. Chiropractors love to run up these expensive bills and try to charge it to the insurance companies, especially if this is a personal injury incident based on an auto accident. You will be expected to file these injuries with your personal medical insurance company in the beginning if you have available valid medical insurance. If Not? Your mostly likely screwed!
However, if State Farm or Allstate refuses to pay for these personal injuries in the end. Your personal medical insurance may “throw up a red flag? ” And wonder why the other insured driver’s insurance company refused to pay for these all these medical bills as a result of this accident and or incident occured on this particular date if finally stated in front of a jury. Thus, causing you more embarassing and monetary problems later on down the road “Looking as insurance fraud” as previously stated.
If my understanding is correct. Your medical insurance company may even contact you personally in writing and also your medical providers (doctors) later on and ask “Why was this claim or case denied for payment? ” If you have excellent credit and a middle class or even an upper middle class income or above. This could possibly cause you problems later on in life, which your attorney will never instruct you about in the beginning of your initial consultation.
It’s ironic how so many personal injury attorneys and chiropractors seem to always join hand and hand whenever it comes to these particular insurance claims. State and Allstate both know these facts and have the legal staff to fight these cases over a period of time. “Fortunately for all of them, Time is how they make their money!” Meaning that your case has been set aside for a later POSSIBLE payment between the insurance company, attorney and even your medical provider(s).
I realize this sounds like a “Game!” Your right it is!” Your state insurance commissioner understands this dilemma and most of them fight this station on a daily effort. But, the problem is? these legal people regarding insurance companies and personal injury attorneys are constantly aware of the changing laws. “Most personal injury attorneys fight for the laws to make them more money? “
Insurance companies at the same time “fight” for better laws to reduce their payments of small so-called personal injuries. The un-aware consumers of insurance always seems to lose in the raze somehow because of bogus personal injury attorneys. My personal advice is? Don’t file a personal injury claim with State Farm or Allstate unless it’s absolutely important.

Phillip Chambley.
